Buttonhooks and Shoe Horns. Whiting Manufacturing Co.
The company was started by Albert Tiftt and William Whiting in 1840 as a jewelry producer Tifft & Whiting. Their products were later expanded to include small silver holloware and ladies' combs.
In 1866 the firm became Whiting Manufacturing Co. In 1910 the company moved to a larger modern plant in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where a complete line of silverware was produces.
In 1926 Whiting Mfg. Co. was acquired by Gorham Company and moved to Providence, Rhode Island, where the original trademark continued to be used.
