History of Salvatore Ferragamo – creator of shoes and founder of the fashion house – is a true story of a poor boy turned one of the richest man in Italy. His first pair of shoes was made when he was only nine and at twelve he had his own workshop. When Salvatore was 16 his ambitions led him to the States, where he earned a reputation of the “Shoemaker to the Stars”, creating shoes for films and the most famous film stars.

On his return to Italy in the end of the 20s Ferragamo starts shoe production in Florence, becomes a world famous shoe designer, surviving through depression and WWII. He died in 1960, but the story of the brand did not stop at that. Creativity of Salvatore Ferragamo was the solid basis for the fashion house that become one of the biggest luxury empires in the world.

The legacy of Salvatore Ferragamo is not only an excellent collection of shoes displayed in the museum, but also 369 patents and a reputation of a man, who made a revolution iin the shoe industry. His shoes are famous for comfort and use of innovative materials.

A list of his grateful customers includes members of the Italian aristocracy and royal families, European elite and movie stars like Mary Pickford, Judy Garland, Gloria Swenson, Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe, Gina Lollobrigida, Greta Garbo, Ingrid Bergman, Sophy Loren and many others.
