A refined design manufacturing and retail company established in 1954 in London, Gina Shoes Ltd. have become famous for their exquisite sculptured footwear. Designing couture shoes has been a family trait since 1893.
Master shoemaker Mehmet Kurdash had a dream to create glamorous hand-made shoes, and established Gina Shoes in 1954, naming it after his favourite actress, the alluring Gina Lollobrigida. He was committed to beauty and throughout his life he would never compromise on quality, crafting his own designs out of the most beautiful skins.
Today, his three sons, Attila, Aydin and Altan Kurdash continue this tradition as the driving force behind the exquisite Gina shoes and bags. Coming from a family with a history of couture footwear going back over 100 years, their destiny was to bring to the world a new vision of ladies fashion footwear. The brother’s outstanding talents interweave across the design, manufacture, and retailing of Gina. Now, breathtaking new designs are being created that continue to set the world alight and are the talk of the society pages.
Their first boutique was opened in 1991 becoming an instant success attracting fashion’s elite. It was apparent that more space was needed and a larger boutique was acquired in 1994 in Sloane Street in the heart of fashionable Knightsbridge to provide a sumptuous, eclectic setting that personified the style of Gina. The opening of their couture salon in Bond Street in 1999 caused a media sensation over the remarkable accessories. These included alligator mules so ostentatious they were finished with 18-carat white gold and inlaid with 36 princess-cut diamonds!
The entire team at Gina, from the craftsman in Gina's East End factory to the Kurdash brothers themselves are dedicated to quality. The perfection of each design is reliant on the cut and the use of outstanding fabrics and textures. Each tiny stitch, up to twenty per inch, shows incredible, scrupulous attention to detail. Each individual shoe is handled with the utmost care and respect.
No other designer has captured the finesse, quality and fine craftsmanship of a shoe, whilst being the most sought after fashion accessory of the season. Inspiration for new designs comes from influences all over the world, as well as close contact with the national and international media.
Gina Shoes, named after the 1950's glamorous movie star, Gina Lollobrigida, has an extensive list of clients, which include Royal Families, international actresses and a never-ending list of supermodels and highflying society names. They have received phenomenal acclaim and recognition for their shoe creations featured on catwalks of high profile fashion designers.
