Ladies footwear brand Connie was created in 1931 by Brown Shoe Company, Inc.The company was founded in 1878 by George Warren Brown and partners Alvin L. Bryan and Jerome Desnoyers and was initially called "Bryan, Brown and Company". It gained wide recognition in the USA thanks to its children's brand of shoes"Buster Brown" based on the character created by cartoonist R. Fenton Outcault, (The Yellow Kid and Buster Brown), which the company bought the rights for in 1904
Brown Shoe Company now owns the following brands: AirStep, Naturalizer, Via Spiga, Carlos by Carlos Santana, Nickels, Life Stride, Francois Xavier Collection, Maserati, Regal. Other brands are licensed to the company.
